Question by bradpee: What to say if your boss want to pay you from his personal pocket?
Hi all,

My friend is a foreigner, currently working in a US company. One of his bosses wants to hire him to do some personal assistance which is beyond his normal work. The boss wants to pay him using his own money from his own pocket.

But my friend is a nice person, he doesn't want to be paid, he just want to help around and he is perfectly happy with the free assistance. Friendship, networking, and future references/recommendations are more important than the wage. That boss is an influential person. Also, he is not sure that he can completely guarantee that he will be able to work up to the high expectations of the boss.

The boss, being nice too, does not want to owe too much to my friend, and wants to pay him from his own pocket.

So from my friend's perspective, what are the nice ways to say to his boss in order to befriend the boss and leave room for future development?

Thanks!
Don't do what? What is a test?
I forgot to say, you may assume that this is not a test of company policy.
What my friend wants to know is how to befriend his boss for future development, and we know 100% sure that this is not a test. Okay?
