Virtually all mobile phone manufacturing is done in China, Taiwan... places like that.
I don't know of any British companies that design mobile phones, either. Nokia is in Finland. Ericsson is Swedish. Philips is based in the Netherlands. LG and Samsung are Korean. HTC is Taiwan. Motorola is based in the US.
UK does buy mobile phones. UK does not buy the most mobile phones - think about it - UK's population is comparatively small.
