Question by Phineas Bogg: How does my memory work with regard to remembering to use my new password instead of my old?

So, it's been two weeks since I changed my password. I use it every day, so I have not forgotten the actual password. However, when I go to log in I typically type my old password first. Can anyone tell me what part of the brain is responsible for this sort of thing, or what type of memory this is. It seems like a mix of muscle memory and rote memory -- though to be honest, I know nothing of memory, so I could be way off.

Does your new password have any associations? As opposed to your old passwords? People remember things best through associating it with something. Perhaps if you associate the new password with something else then you would find it easier.

I too have the same problem...but I find that helps.
