What does Wifi do? Can you buy it at the store, if so where?

Wi-fi is wireless-technology that in case you are talking about a computer, allows you to connect wirelessly to a wireless network, instead of using an ethernet cable.
Ok first of all you have to understand that the connection works by you having a wireless modem or router to provide the signal and having a computer with a wireless card or adapter to receive the signal, this is a 2 way deal.
If your computer doesnt have a wireless device to connect, then you can go to any computer store to but it, Best Buy, Radioshack, CompUSA, Circuit City, etc...
In regards to the free internet, if after you already setup your computer to receive wireless signal and you dont have wireless access in your house, there are alot of "hot spots" you could go to get connected wirelessly like Starbucks, Coffe shops, or even some fast food places. But at the ends you usually need to purchase something to get a code to connect wirelessly.
