Specifically, from one computer with Windows XP to another computer with Red Hat Linux. I've never used FTP before and would like steps. Otherwise, is there an FTP program out there that has minimal setup procedures and can let you drag and drop?

The very best FTP program I've ever used on ANY system is the FireFTP add-on to Firefox (you can get Firefox for Linux, of course). FireFTP is easy as heck to use, danged RELIABLE and ROBUST connection (unlike some others I've tried), and on, and on...and free, of course. That's MY recommendation.
(And even though at times I grow fond of other browsers on other systems, FireFTP itself may be reason enough to download a copy of Firefox!)
